The Kings will play the United States Olympic hockey team Oct. 3 at the San Diego Sports Arena in their final tuneup before the National Hockey League season.
The match against the Olympians, headed for the Winter Olympics in February at Calgary, Canada, will be the finale of a seven-game practice schedule, which opens Sept. 18 against the Vancouver Canucks at Duncan, Canada. That game comes one week after the Kings report to training camp at Victoria, Canada.
Regular-season play opens in Los Angeles when the Kings take on the New York Islanders Oct. 8.
On Dec. 30, the Kings will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Forum with a game against Winnipeg. The Kings played the Philadelphia Flyers in the first event at the Forum on Dec. 30, 1967.
