Oralingua School Not the Only One

Your interesting article on the Oralingua School for the Hearing Impaired (Southeast / Long Beach sections, Thursday, May 14) incorrectly stated that Oralingua is “the only facility in Southern California dedicated to teaching the profoundly deaf to hear and speak.”
The HEAR Center in Pasadena was founded in 1954 by Dr. Ciwa Griffiths to serve the needs of the hearing impaired through the early identification of hearing and speech impairments, early amplification (hearing aids), and appropriate auditory training and speech therapy.
The goal of HEAR is to lift the barrier of silence and enable the profoundly deaf and hard of hearing to live, study and work in a world of sound.
