The Nation : Air Crew Cover-up Alleged

U.S. and Canadian investigators said they are looking into reports that the flight crew of a Delta Air Lines jumbo jetliner that nearly collided over the Atlantic Ocean with a Continental plane tried to prevent the incident from being reported. Officials said that the Air Force taped conversations between the planes and that the Continental crew refused urgings to hush up the incident. Meanwhile, a Continental spokesman confirmed that the airline’s pilots said they were asked not to report last week’s near collision, which occurred within the jurisdiction of Canadian air traffic controllers, but said they did not know if the radio message came from the Delta plane.
