No Experimental Surgery--Ali

NEW YORK — Muhammad Ali said today that he has decided to follow the advice of his personal physicians and not undergo an experimental form of brain surgery in Mexico to treat his Parkinson’s disease.
“I’m happy I’m shaking up the world again,” Larry Kolb, a close friend, said Ali told him by telephone, “but no doctor’s going to touch me.” In Mexico City on Monday night, Dr. Ignacio Madrazo, a neurosurgeon, had told ABC that there was a “great chance” he would perform the operation on Ali. Ali, the former heavyweight champion, left Mexico City for Chicago early today.
