Lt. Col. Oliver North: Patriotic Hero or Misguided Zealot?

It is shameful to see United States congressmen defend North in the wake of Olliemania. Don’t these august men realize that North is ultimately a military man and that militarists throughout the world have used “national security” as a reason to deny human rights and justify their totalitarian regimes? Oliver North may appear to be all-American, but under that uniform is a man who has no patience with democracy. Let’s hope our senators and representatives soon recover from this temporary insanity and return to defending the Constitution and Bill of Rights from crackpot colonels.
