Fifteen tons of salmon caught in Cook Inlet in Alaska are contaminated with crude oil from a leaky tanker and must be destroyed, a state Department of Environmental Conservation spokeswoman said. Another 100,000 pounds were held for inspection. The 774-foot Glacier Bay, loaded with crude oil from the Valdez terminal of the Trans-Alaska pipeline, was headed for the Tesoro Petroleum refinery when it hit a submerged object July 2 and began leaking oil into the inlet southwest of Anchorage.
