Farmers Group earnings rose 17%to $62.5 million for the second quarter. The Los Angeles-based firm said profit was also up 14% to $119 million for the six months. The gains were attributed to higher average premiums, growth in auto and fire policies and a $8.4-million reduction in income taxes.
