Residents to Meet on Westwood Plans
A coalition of five homeowner groups will hold a town meeting Thursday to call on Councilman Zev Yaroslavsky to support residents’ demands for strict growth limits in Westwood. The meeting will be at 8 p.m. in the Fairburn Avenue Elementary School auditorium, 1403 Fairburn Ave.
The residents are asking Yaroslavsky to persuade his City Council colleagues as well as members of the council’s Planning and Environment Committee to adopt stricter zoning and density limitations than are currently included in two extensive plans for Westwood’s future.
The plans--the Westwood Village Specific Plan and the Westwood Community Plan--were approved by the city Planning Commission on Sept. 10 and will come before the Planning and Environment Committee in the next few weeks before going on to the full council for a final vote.
