Irvine : Villa Park Man Dies When Truck Broadsided

A Villa Park man died early Sunday after he apparently failed to stop his pickup truck for a red light and was hit broadside by a car entering the intersection, authorities said.
Brian Vandusseldorp, 26, was pronounced dead on arrival at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana of head injuries suffered in the 1:25 a.m. collision, Police Sgt. Mike Ogden said.
Kris Munroe, 29, of El Toro, the driver of the car, and Mary Ostoja, 29, of San Diego, her passenger, were both treated at the same hospital for minor injuries and released, police said.
Munroe also was arrested at the hospital on suspicion of felony drunk driving and then released on her own recognizance, pending results of a blood alcohol test, police said.
