A Vista man was killed Sunday night when he tried to run across the freeway, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said.
Tomas Flores Orosco, 66, was northbound on Interstate 15, south of Felicita Road in Escondido, when his vehicle broke down near the center divider. As he attempted to run across the lanes of traffic, he was struck by Francisco Pena, 39, of Pomona.
Pena was not cited, the spokesman said.
Orosco was pronounced dead at the scene.
