Long Beach College Wins Water Polo Tournament

Long Beach College defeated Golden West, 10-4, in the final of the South Coast Conference water polo tournament Saturday at Cerritos College. The victory gave Long Beach the conference title.
Golden West, which finished second in the conference with a 19-5 record, reached the final by defeating Cerritos, 18-5. The Rustlers’ top scorer was Craig Douglas, who scored four goals in the first match and three in the final. Scott Larsen scored four goals in the first game but suffered a bruised sternum and did not play in the final match.
Long Beach and Golden West advance to the Southern California playoffs Friday and Saturday at Belmont Plaza Pool in Long Beach.
