A Southeast San Diego woman surrendered at police headquarters downtown Wednesday in connection with the stabbing death of her neighbor, Officer Ron Manaigre said.
Police had been looking for Valerie M. Jeanes, 23, who lives in an apartment complex in the 4700 block of Home Avenue, when she approached the duty officer at the front desk.
On Tuesday at 9:40 p.m., Alphonso Mack, 31, also a resident of the apartment complex, was found lying in a hallway suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was taken to Mercy Hospital, where he died, Manaigre said.
Witnesses told police that Jeanes and Mack were friends who had been arguing before the stabbing.
