Local News in Brief : Residents’ Opinions on Waste Disposal Sought

The Los Angeles County Haz ardous Waste Management Advisory Committee will hold a public meeting at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Van Nuys High School to get San Fernando Valley residents to participate in the planning of a countywide system for managing hazardous waste, officials said.
The advisory committee is overseeing the drafting of a plan to treat hazardous wastes before their disposal.
The plan will also focus on waste recycling, increased industry involvement and selection of and granting of permits for hazardous-waste disposal facilities.
