Police were searching Wednesday for a 3-year-old Alhambra boy believed kidnaped by his baby-sitter, who had told the toddler’s parents that she wanted a child just like their son, authorities said.
Carlos Alvarez disappeared at about 10 a.m. Tuesday, the same time that his baby-sitter for more than a year left the family’s home, Alhambra Police Detective Stephen Perry said.
The baby-sitter, Eneida Cruz Rivera, told the child’s mother that she was going shopping, but when the mother, 22-year-old Carmen Alvarez, checked on Carlos and his 2-year-old sister, the boy was missing.
The boy’s parents later discovered that his birth certificate and passport were missing.
