Volleyball Regional to Begin at UCSD

SAN DIEGO — UC San Diego will open defense of its women’s volleyball national championship in the NCAA Division III West Regional tournament, which will begin today at UCSD.
The top-ranked Tritons (27-4), who are trying to become the first team to win consecutive Division III national volleyball titles, have a bye into Friday’s second round.
In today’s matches, 13th-ranked Pomona-Pitzer (24-10) will play No. 16 Menlo College (24-10) at 5 p.m., and No. 8 Cal State San Bernardino (34-7) will play unranked La Verne (15-14) at 7:30 p.m.
On Friday at 7:30 p.m., top-seeded UCSD will play the winner of the match between Menlo and Pomona-Pitzer. This match will follow a 5 p.m. match between second-seeded and fifth-ranked Colorado College and the winner of the Cal State San Bernardino-La Verne match at 5 p.m.
The winners will meet for the regional championship Saturday at 7:30 p.m. All matches are at Triton Pavilion.
