Food-stamp recipients and low-income residents of the city are eligible to receive free food through the U.S. Department of Agriculture food assistance program.
Once a month, families who live at or below the poverty level may receive various government surplus commodities, including cheese, butter, rice, cornmeal, flour and honey.
Those who live east of Western Avenue may pick up the food Tuesday from 1:30 to 5 p.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8954 headquarters, 6410 Homewood Ave.
Those who live west of Western should go to the Church of Christ at 7201 Walnut Ave. on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon.
People seeking food will be requested to show proof of residency in Buena Park. For more information, call (714) 771-1343.
