Bill Press Runs for Senate
Anyone who seriously hopes to unseat Republican Sen. Pete Wilson next November ought to ignore the entry of KABC-TV commentator Bill Press into the race for the Democratic U.S. Senate nomination. He is exactly what we don’t need in this race: an unqualified second contender to draw votes away from the front-runner, Lt. Gov. Leo McCarthy, focusing unflattering attention on him.
Even though I agree with many of his positions on the issues, I have found Press’ recent TV commentaries to be specious, self-serving and startingly naive about the real world.
