Earthquake damage to Cerritos College is an estimated $384,000, according to Walter C. Magnuson, vice president for business services. No buildings on the 18,000-student campus are considered unsafe as a result of the Oct. 1 quake, Magnuson said.
Much of the damage was confined to cracked walls and falling exterior ceramic tile. Two structures which particularly showed effects of stress from the shaking were the Health Sciences Building, which had damaged expansion joints, and the Social Sciences Building, which had some cracked concrete.
Magnuson said he hopes that the cost of repairs will be financed with the help of state and federal relief funds.
