Top--Seeded Coronado Meets USDHS for Water Polo Title

SAN DIEGO — Evan Galbo scored five times and Alex Frawley added four goals Wednesday night to lead top--seeded Coronado High School to a 15--8 victory over Helix in a San Diego Section water polo semifinal match at UC San Diego.
Coronado (22--5) will meet second--seeded University of San Diego High School in the section championship game Saturday night at UC San Diego. USDHS (22--4) defeated Fallbrook, 12--8, in Wednesday’s other semifinal.
Galbo scored four of his goals during a six--goal run by Coronado that erased an early 1--0 Valhalla lead. Coronado led, 3--1, after the first quarter and extended its lead to 10--3 by halftime. Bob Samuel scored three goals to lead Valhalla.
In USDHS’ victory over Fallbrook, Darion Young scored five goals, including two in the first quarter, to help the Dons take a 4--0 lead. Fallbrook scored the first two goals of the second quarter to make it 4--2, but Page Thompkins and Young scored back--to--back goals and USDHS went on to take a 6--3 halftime lead.
