Win Boosts Ranking of Tarzana Skater
Sixteen-year-old Cindy Bortz of Tarzana, the reigning girls junior national and junior world champion figure skater, finished first overall at last week’s Moscow News-87 Prize event.
Bortz successfully completed three triple jumps and was the only girl in the competition not to fall.
About 100 skaters--including six Americans--from 11 countries took part. Bortz beat 15 other females to win in singles.
With the retirement of Tiffany Chin, Bortz is now ranked fifth among U. S. women skaters.
