A 77-year-old pedestrian died after she stepped into the westbound lanes of traffic on Carroll Canyon Road in Mira Mesa and was struck by a car, police spokesman Bill Robinson said Monday.
Barbara May Livermore, of East San Diego, was crossing near Black Mountain Road at 5:37 p.m. Saturday with her husband. He stopped at the center divider and she continued across. She was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead, Robinson said.
A preliminary report indicated that she was not in a marked crosswalk at the time of the accident and the driver of the car was not cited.
