Accused Nazi war criminal John Demjanjuk was removed by ambulance from his Jerusalem trial in severe pain, his son-in-law said, after suffering a back injury during a bumpy, 50-mile ride from jail to the courtroom. It was the second such injury Demjanjuk has suffered since the trial began 10 months ago. The son-in-law, Ed Nishnic, complained: “The guards throw him in the back of the (police) van like a piece of cattle. He bounces around back there, shackled.” Demjanjuk, a retired Ohio auto worker, is accused of being “Ivan the Terrible,” a brutal guard who operated gas chambers at Treblinka death camp in Nazi-occupied Poland.
