NEW YORK — NBC was declared victor in the November sweeps today, its 11th in a row for the longest streak since ABC won 11 sweeps in a row ending in May, 1979, according to the A. C. Nielsen Co.
November is one of four months a year when ratings companies measure audiences in local markets for use in determining local advertising rates. The networks generally load their schedules with special programs to help their affiliates. ABC remains in second place for the fall season so far. NBC’s season-to-date average rating after nine weeks is 16.7, ABC has 14.0 and CBS 13.8. CBS extended its win streak in news to all nine weeks of the new season.
