Anton Stastny scored a power-play goal at 2:44 of overtime Monday night to lift Quebec to a 4-3 victory over the Montreal Canadiens, snapping the Nordiques’ four-game winless streak.
The loss was the Canadiens’ first in their last five games as their record against Adams Division teams dropped to 1-4-3. They are 13-6-5 overall.
Montreal’s Claude Lemieux scored a power-play goal with 48 seconds left in regulation to tie the score, 3-3, but Stastny converted a rebound to give the Nordiques the victory.
Quebec’s Michel Goulet gave Quebec a 3-2 lead at 7:00 of the third period on a power play, deflecting a shot that beat goalie Patrick Roy to the stick side. Rookie Jason Lafreniere tied the score, 2-2, at 2:56 when Goulet fed him a pass in the slot.
Calgary 9, New Jersey 2--Mike Bullard scored twice to spark a six-goal second period as the Flames overpowered the Devils at Calgary.
The loss marked the first time the Devils (12-7-2) have dropped two straight games this season and it extended their winless streak at Calgary to seven games. New Jersey last won at Calgary on Nov. 27, 1982.
The Flames (11-8-3) outshot the Devils, 19-9, in the second period while setting a club record for goals in a period.
