THE COLLEGES : UCI Women 8th in Cross-Country

The UC Irvine women’s cross-country team placed eighth and the men’s team finished 14th in the NCAA Division I cross-country championships Monday in Charlottesville, Va.
The University of Oregon won the women’s championship and Arkansas University won the men’s title for the second straight year.
In the women’s 5,000-meter race, Buffy Rabbitt placed 20th with a time of 16:47.24 to lead the Anteaters. Rabbitt became the first female runner at UC Irvine to earn All-American honors.
In the men’s 10,000-meter race, the Anteaters’ Richard Graves finished 24th with a time of 29:59.93. Graves also earned All-American honors.
