TEL AVIV — Two Iranian army deserters who entered Israel illegally have appealed to the Supreme Court to free them from prison until a third country grants them political asylum, their attorney said Friday.
One of the Iranians faces the death penalty in Tehran for opposition to the government of revolutionary leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, attorney Avigdor Feldman said.
Both are jailed on illegal entry convictions.
