Community College Basketball Roundup : Mueller-Stach Leads Golden West to Victory

Markus Mueller-Stach scored a game-high 28 points to lead the Golden West College men’s basketball team to a 90-85 victory over Antelope Valley in the first round of the Antelope Valley tournament Thursday.
Mueller-Stach was 11 of 19 from the field and had 12 rebounds for the Rustlers (5-1), who had five players score in double figures.
Golden West plays College of the Sequoias in second-round play today.
In other Antelope Valley tournament play:
Cypress 91, College of the Desert 63--Five Chargers scored in double figures, led by Jeff Green, a sophomore forward, with 21 points. Cypress (7-0) is the fifth-ranked team in the state.
In Grossmont tournament play:
Rancho Santiago 102, Marymount 93--The Dons were led in their first-round victory by Kenny Ammann’s 32 points. Tom Villenueva came off the bench to score 14 and Alonzo Jamison added 13 points and 12 rebounds for Rancho Santiago (6-2).
Fullerton 66, San Diego Mesa 54--Troy Joseph, a sophomore forward, had 25 points and 8 rebounds for the Hornets (4-2).
In the Miles Eaton tournament at Orange Coast College:
Orange Coast 118, East Los Angeles 72--Dave Miles had 34 points to lead the Pirates (6-2). Orange Coast faces Imperial Valley tonight at 8 in the semifinals.
In the Cypress women’s tournament:
Cypress 91, Southwestern 51--Vicky Silva came off the bench for 22 points and 20 rebounds. Cypress plays L.A. Valley in the semifinals today.
MiraCosta 86, Orange Coast 66--Gilly Powell, a 5-11 freshman forward from Woodbridge High School, had 28 points and 12 rebounds for the Pirates (4-3). Orange Coast plays in the consolation semifinals against Mt. San Antonio today.
