The Washington Summit : 4 TV Networks Plan Extensive Live Coverage

NEW YORK — The four major television networks planned extensive live coverage of today’s opening of the summit between President Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail S. Gorbachev.
ABC, CBS, NBC and CNN said they will carry live, at 7 a.m. PST, Gorbachev’s arrival and welcome at the White House and the signing of the arms control treaty, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
NBC and CNN said they will broadcast a 9 a.m. news briefing by White House spokesman Marlin Fitzwater and Soviet spokesman Gennady I. Gerasimov. CNN said it will also broadcast a 2 p.m. briefing.
NBC, ABC and CNN said they plan some live coverage of the state dinner, beginning at 4 p.m.
