Gift to CalArts Matches National Challenge Grant

The Fletcher Jones Foundation has given $103,000 to CalArts, enabling the school to complete a National Endowment for the Arts challenge grant well ahead of schedule. The NEA awarded CalArts $825,000 in October, 1984, requiring $2.6 million in matching money to be raised before July, 1988.

Three-quarters of the grant is for endowment, with the remainder earmarked for technical equipment. That includes digital recording equipment for the music and film/video departments and graphic arts computer hardware.
