Jimmy Piersall, former major league baseball player and announcer, was recovering after undergoing quadruple bypass heart surgery in Chicago. Piersall, 58, a minor league instructor and consultant in the Chicago Cubs organization, underwent the operation Friday at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center. It was his second heart bypass operation. He underwent a triple bypass in 1976.
