- Kevin Kenner, a Coronado native, played a solo piano recital at Coronado High School over the weekend. The 24-year-old pianist, a student at Baltimore’s Peabody Conservatory, won the New York Chopin competition in New York City earlier this year. As a result, Kenner is now preparing for a concert tour of Poland and four other Eastern European countries in September.

In Warsaw, he performed an all-Chopin program for the Chopin Society and will give a recital in the composer’s home, a traditional honor. He will also enter the seventh International Chopin Festival in Antonin, Poland.
