Local News in Brief : Woman Killed as Van Crashes on Icy Road

Awoman driving a van lost control on an icy patch of Lancaster Road near Gorman and was killed when the van left the road and crashed, the California Highway Patrol reported Thursday.
Donna Taylor, 47, of Chandler, Ariz., was ejected in the accident, which occurred about 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, said CHP spokesman Bill Burdick. Her husband, Lloyd Taylor, 51, and son, Michael Taylor, 27, suffered minor injuries, he said.
Burdick said the westbound van slid out of control at about 55 m.p.h. when it crossed a patch of ice at a point where Lancaster Road passes near Quail Lake.
