China Blames Some Aides for Pornography Spread

BEIJING — Some government officials are contributing to the spread of pornography in China by copying and distributing confiscated materials, a senior police official said.
While police and the courts are cracking down on a growing trade in pornographic videotapes and books, Deputy Public Security Minister Yu Lei was quoted Sunday by the New China News Agency as saying that some officials were copying material seized during the course of their work and putting it back into circulation.
And increasing numbers of people with video recorders also are duplicating pornographic movies, Yu said, adding that the spread of pronography has been a major factor behind juvenile delinquency in China.
