Floyd Says He Will Appeal $5,000 Fine

Associated Press

Houston Rockets guard Sleepy Floyd said he will appeal the $5,000 fine and one-game suspension levied against him for fighting during a game against the Phoenix Suns.

The NBA set the punishment against Floyd just one day after the altercation in Phoenix Wednesday night.

Floyd appeared briefly at The Summit before the Rocket game Thursday night against Portland. He was suspended from that game, which the Rockets won, 103-98.

“I’m sorry it happened, but it happened,” Floyd said. “I’ll appeal the suspension. That’s all I’ve got to say.”

Floyd would not comment on what prompted the fight. He can appeal through his lawyer and the NBA Players Assn.

Hornacek was fined $1,500 for throwing a punch and chasing Floyd, actions that prolonged the fight.
