Set Iraq Town Afire, Kurdish Rebels Say

NICOSIA, Cyprus — Kurdish guerrillas set fire to hundreds of vacation homes in northern Iraq, including one owned by President Saddam Hussein, a spokesman for the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan said Friday.
He said in a telephone call from Tehran that Kurdish rebels, fighting for autonomy from Baghdad, raided the summer resort town of Sari Rash, near the provincial capital of Arbil, on Wednesday night.
“They blew up 1,150 bungalows . . . including the private bungalow of the traitors Saddam Hussein and (Foreign Minister) Tarik Aziz,” the spokesman said.
He said the guerrillas also blew up radar installations and a telecommunications jamming station in the town.
