A late-1989 completion is scheduled for the $70-million, 700,000-square-foot initial phase of the Antelope Valley Mall in Palmdale, the first regional enclosed mall in the Antelope Valley.
Developed by Forest City Commercial Development, the mall will be anchored by four department stores: Sears, JC Penney, Gottschalks and Harris Co.
The first phase will also have 125 mall shops, a 10-screen movie theater complex, a food court and almost 5,000 parking spaces, according to Everett Shine, development director of the Cleveland-based firm.
The single-level mall will be built on a 100-acre site just west of the Antelope Valley (14) Freeway at Avenue P between 10th and 15th streets west, allowing room for expansion to 1 million square feet with two additional department stores and more mall shops. Forest City Commercial Development is also the developer of the Mall of Victor Valley in Victorville, that area’s first regional mall.
