Softball : Edison’s Carpenter Tosses Perfect Game

Terry Carpenter threw a perfect game and had 16 strikeouts to lead Edison High School to a 3-0 victory over Garden Grove Tuesday in the first game of a doubleheader at Edison. Edison won the second game, 1-0.
In other nonleague games:
Valencia 8, Esperanza 0--Michele Granger (2-0) allowed just a sixth-inning single and had 15 strikeouts for host Valencia.
Magnolia 6, Sonora 0--Jeanette Ontiveros hit a solo home run in the fourth for visiting Magnolia (1-1).
Orange Lutheran 17, Whitney 2--Stacie Eskew (2-0) threw a two-hitter for Orange Lutheran (2-0).
