Keith Clark’s Leadership
There have been a number of articles in the press lately regarding the departure of Keith Clark as music director of the Pacific Symphony. These articles have often been critical of Mr. Clark and, in my opinion, unfair to both him and to the public, which is being ill-informed. It is unjust for Keith Clark’s contributions to the musical life of Orange County to go unheralded at this time.
It is due to Mr. Clark’s unfailing efforts on many fronts over the past nine years that Orange County now has its own resident symphony orchestra, serving the entire community with a wide variety of concerts for every age group. It is one in which the community can take great pride and which employs some of the finest musicians in Southern California.
Under Mr. Clark’s direction, the orchestra has not only filled the need for a resident group to do subscription concerts, ballet and opera, but it has actually created a public demand for an ever-expanding range of musical experiences. In this respect, Keith Clark’s contribution to Orange County’s cultural life has been immense.
For his talent, both artistic and organizational, and for his vision and dedication, why not now give him the praise and recognition he deserves?
