The Conference Board expects the U.S. economy to slip into a mild recession in the middle of 1989. “The recession will be mild and short-lived,” said Eric Kruger, the executive director of the business-sponsored research group’s economic and business environment program. “It will not be the kind of recession we saw in 1974 and 1975.”
