Cudahy : Massage Parlor License Ban
The City Council, in a move to stem prostitution in Cudahy, has extended its ban on the issuance of new licenses for massage and Oriental acupressure parlors.
At Tuesday’s meeting, council members unanimously extended the moratorium originally passed last month in anticipation of a proposed change in the city’s zoning ordinance that would make massage parlors illegal.
The effort to force massage parlors from the city was prompted by recent arrests of alleged prostitutes at two Oriental acupressure parlors by Bell-Cudahy undercover detectives. Both acupressure parlors have been denied renewal of their permits since the arrests, city officials said. Because of the moratorium, the businesses have been forced to close.
