Oscar and Emmy-winning actress Patty Duke resigned today as president of the 70,000-member Screen Actors Guild after serving in that post for 30 months.
Her resignation was mandatory under the SAG Constitution and bylaws, which state that no officer or board member may hold a production interest while in office. Pending a conclusion of the Writers Guild of America strike, Duke will be producing a TV movie based on her best-selling autobiography, “Call Me Anna.” SAG First Vice President Barry Gordon took over as president.
