Richard C. Miller has succeeded William F. Allewelt Jr. as president of Sun-Diamond Growers, the Pleasanton-based sales and distribution organization representing half a dozen grower-owned cooperatives, including Diamond Walnut, Sun-Maid and Sunsweet, which had sales of $523 million last year.
Miller joined Sun-Diamond in 1986 as senior vice president of marketing and business management, while Allewelt has been associated with the firm since late in 1985, serving both as a consultant and later as president, presiding over a wide-ranging reorganization that gave broad autonomy to the constituent cooperatives while reducing their one-time general headquarters to a sales-service function.
