CBS board Chairman William S. Paley, 86, made a rare public appearance Thursday in New York to unveil plans for a new 17-story home of the Museum of Broadcasting, which he helped found in 1976. The museum now is housed in Midtown Manhattan one block from the site of its new home on West 52nd Street. Paley donated land worth $12 million for the new building, which he says will be finished in two years. Including his land donation, the total cost for the museum’s new home will be $45 million, of which Paley has helped raise two-thirds so far. “The answer is yes,” he said when asked if it will be difficult to raise the balance.
