Countywide : State Approves Project to Link Airport, Freeway
- Share via
The state Transportation Commission on Thursday approved the county’s plan to build ramps from the Costa Mesa Freeway to John Wayne Airport.
Construction is to begin next month on the $8.4 million project connecting the freeway and the airport’s planned parking garage. Studies have shown that the Costa Mesa Freeway is used by 35% to 40% of the airport visitors.
The new ramps and garage are part of the airport’s $340-million expansion, scheduled for completion in 1990. The county will pay for the ramps, which are expected to be finished late next year.
