The San Diego Cavers moved into the quarterfinals of the San Diego small schools Police Athletic League summer basketball playoffs with a 91-15 victory over the Lutheran Knights Thursday night at Municipal Gym in Balboa Park.
The Cavers headed a group of seven other quarterfinalists. Others to advance were the Bishop’s Knights, Serra Conquistadors, University Centurions, Mission Bay Bucs, University Dons, Crawford Colts and Marian Crusaders. The quarterfinals are scheduled Tuesday in Municipal Gym.
GOLF
An open qualifying tournament for the Oldsmobile Scramble will be held Sunday at the Carmel Highland Country Club.
The winning four-member team will advance to the sectional qualifying round at Singing Hills Country Club in El Cajon, Sept. 2. Tournament finals will be held at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla., Oct. 21-24.
To qualify, individuals must have established SCGA/USGA handicaps.
