Boeing Co.’s second-quarter net income rose 37% to $160 million from last year. Sales totaled $4.7 billion, up 34%. The Seattle aerospace firm said the results reflect increased sales and lower research and development expenses. The company also had decreased business charges relating to its computing, electronics and military and space programs, and earnings were helped by lower federal income taxes.
