Brea-Olinda, Katella Girls’ Teams Advance

Brea-Olinda and Katella high schools have advanced to Thursday’s semifinals of the Summer Hoop Finale girls’ basketball tournament at Bellarmine Jefferson High School in Burbank.
In Monday’s quarterfinals, Katella--led by Joni Easterly’s 23 points--defeated Glendale, 50-33, and Brea-Olinda defeated Gahr, 34-30.
Katella will face Alemany, an upset winner over top-seeded Palos Verdes, on Thursday at 7 p.m. Brea-Olinda will play Morningside, seeded second, in the other semifinal on Thursday at 8:10 p.m.
The tournament’s championship game is scheduled for 8:10 p.m. Friday.
