International Remote Imaging Ends Joint Study

International Remote Imaging Systems in Chatsworth has terminated a joint research program with TOA Medical Electronics. International Remote, which makes urinalysis machines used by hospitals and commercial laboratories, has suffered from financial problems and has lost money the past three years.
In 1986 TOA Medical, a Japanese medical instruments manufacturer, agreed to buy a 9.5% stake in International Remote. But under the latest agreement, the joint research program has been terminated, and TOA will pay International Remote about $1.2 million during the next four years.
