U.S. Truck Sales Rise 4.7%

DETROIT — August retail truck sales by franchised dealers of U.S. manufacturers rose 4.7% to 375,302 from 358,365 in August, 1987, the Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Assn. said.
The August, 1988, sales set a record for the month, the trade association said.
Year-to-date truck sales climbed 12.2% to 3,157,247 from 2,814,686 in the 1987 period, the trade association said.
