ICN Pharmaceuticals Inc.’s third-quarter profit skyrocketed to $7 million from $756,000 in the year-ago period. Sales totaled a record $41.7 million, up 31%. The Costa Mesa drug research, development and marketing firm realized a non-recurring gain of $5.2 million from the repurchase of long-term debt, a 37% increase in sales in its U.S. dermatological line and strong demand for existing research and diagnostic products.
